Trails End.

To be rodeoing in a tiny village tucked away in the mountains of New Mexico was such a refreshing experience. It truly shows rodeo for what it is and what it has always been. If you exit off Interstate 25 at Socorro, New Mexico and take Hwy 60 West through the mountains for about 30 minutes, you reach a small 1 stop light town by the name of Magdalena. Where the Kelley Mines are hidden, and the locals enjoy a more slow paced and simple life that is focused on the core values of the western lifestyle. This is where Western Buckers is based out of.

I was lucky enough to be hired to cover their hometown rodeo for a weekend. Mornings consisted of moving and caring for the stock, rodeo all day and then hanging out at the Golden Spur Saloon at night. Certainly a trip I hope to take again. New Mexico is stunning and has so many hidden treasures to offer.
